Volunteers in Dutchess County are calling on their neighbors from Sept. 7-21, asking them to contribute to the Leukemia Society of America, Inc.
Mrs. John K. Wolfram, volunteer aid chairwoman for Dutchess County, said funds raised from the drive will be used to support world-wide research and to continue the patient aid program locally. This program has been active in Dutchess County.
The patient aid program assists the leukemia victims and their families by paying for the patient's drugs, laboratory fees, administering costs for blood transfusions, and transportation costs when needed. There is also a blood replacement program, whereby, volunteer blood donors are called upon to replace blood given to leukemia patients from our area, and only when there is a need for such donors and at a time convenient to them. Mrs. Wolfram lives at 27 Friendly Lane, Poughkeepsie.
