     Jacob S. Funk was born on 24 September 1797 in Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 He was the son of Rev. Jacob Funk and Mary Shelly. Jacob S. Funk lived in November 1821 in Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.4 He married Anna Heistand, daughter of David Heistand and Elizabeth Bechtel, on 13 November 1821 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The Rev. Johannes C Gulden, pastor of Vincent Reformed Church, conducted the ceremony.4 According to conflicting evidence, he married Anna Heistand circa 1818. The evidence, however, is invalid..5 Jacob S. Funk was a farmer in July 1860.6,7 He died on 22 April 1885 at age 87 years, 6 months and 29 days.8,9 He was buried in Vincent Mennonite Church burying ground, formerly known as Rhoade's burying grounds, near Spring City, Chester County, Pennsylvania.9

He appeared in the census enumerated on 31 July 1860 in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He was recorded as being a 62-year-old male who was born in Pennsylvania and whose occupation was that of a farmer. He had real estate valued at $9,100 and a personal estate valued at $2,4257. He appeared on the census enumerated on 27 August 1870 in East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, with Anna Heistand as the head of the household. Jacob was recorded as a 72-year-old white male born in Pennsylvania to native-born parents. His occupation was given as a farmer. He had an estate of $3,000 in real estate and $4,000 worth of personal property. He was recorded as an adult male citizen of the United States11. Enumerated with them was a Susanna Rosen, who was recorded as a 27-year-old white female born in Pennsylvania to native-born parents12.13
