     Rev. Jacob Funk was born on 30 May 1761 in Franconia, Philadelphia County, now Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3,4 Conflicting evidence states that Jacob was born on 20 May 1761 in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. This date is probably incorrect.5,6 Rev. Jacob Funk was also known as Funck.7 He married Mary Shelly, daughter of Christian Shelly and Susanna (?), circa 1784 in Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Rev. Jacob Funk and Mary lived in Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.1 Rev. Jacob Funk and Mary were Mennonites.1 Rev. Jacob Funk was a Mennonite minister.1,8 He was a farmer in 1786.1,8 He married Martha Brownbach after 1809. Rev. Jacob Funk died on 22 July 1817 1 at home in Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania at age 56 years, 1 month and 22 days.8 The cause of Jacob's death was a paralytic stroke, which he suffered the day before he died, while presiding at a funeral in Montgomery County. A hymn was being sung, after he had read the Epistle. He was carried back to his home by the pallbearers.8 He was buried in Vincent Mennonite Church burying ground, formerly known as Rhoade's burying grounds, near Spring City, Chester County, Pennsylvania.9

     Mary Shelly was born circa 1765 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Mary Shelly was also known as Maria Funkin This is the name on her gravestone.1 She married Rev. Jacob Funk, son of Henry Funck and Barbara Schowalter, circa 1784 in Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. As of circa 1784, her married name was Funk. Mary Shelly and Jacob lived in Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.2 Mary Shelly and Jacob were Mennonites.2 Mary Shelly died on 27 April 1809 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.3,4 She was buried in Vincent Mennonite Church burying ground, formerly known as Rhoade's burying grounds, near Spring City, Chester County, Pennsylvania.1
