     James Wessells was born circa 1720 in Eastern Shore, Maryland.1 He was the son of James Wessells and Elizabeth Tolley. James Wessells was also listed as being born circa 1723.2 In James Wessells's will, James Wessells was named by his father James to handle his estate in Fisher's Island, Accomac County, Virginia. His son.3,4 James Wessells married Patience Young, daughter of John Young and Comfort Tatham, circa 1765.5 James Wessells left a will on 22 February 1801 in Accomac County, Virginia. An abstract of the will read:
Sons John & James Wessells Extrs. To son James Wessells the plantation where I now live. To son William Wessells the plantation where he now lives. To daughter Mary Wessells ... To daughter Mary Wessells ... To daughter Nancy Wessells ... To wife Patience Wessells & daughters Mary & Nancy the little rooms of my house as long they are single. To wife all the horses until the crops are made & the whole crop after my son William's part is taken. Witt: William Young Sr. & Robert Young.6 He died before 27 July 1801 in Virginia. His estate was probated on 27 July 1801 in Accomac County, Virginia.6 His estate was settled on 31 October 1803 in Accomac County, Virginia, The auditors were Charles Bagwell and William Thorton. Cash was paid to Patience Wessells, Ephraim Wessells, John Wessells, James Wessells, William Wessells, Ann Wessells and Mary Wessells.7

Patience Young

     Patience Young was born circa 1745 in Accomac County, Virginia.1 She was the daughter of John Young and Comfort Tatham. Patience Young married James Wessells, son of James Wessells and Elizabeth Tolley, circa 1765.2 In her father's will on 8 August 1769 Patience was named as an heir.3 She was living on 31 October 1803 in Accomac County, Virginia.4

The cause of Joseph's death was debility.2 He was buried on 20 July 1860 in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.2
