James Wessells

     James Wessells was born in 1688 in Kent County, Delaware.1 Conflicting evidence states that James Wessells was born circa 1680.2 He married Elizabeth Tolley, daughter of Walter Tolley, on 10 September 1707 in All Hollows Parish, Annarundel County, Maryland.3,4 James Wessells and Elizabeth Wessells sold land to Nathaniel Hynson in Kent County, Maryland, on 9 March 1709. It was part of a tract called Hinchingham formerly belonging to Walter (Tol)ley, Sr. and by him in his last will devised to his two daus. MARY & ELIZABETH. Which said Mary was dec'd and without issue and the same descended to the afsd. ELIZABETH."5 James Wessells sold to John March a tract of 100 acres called Carola, land which had formerly belonged to his father Gerardus in Kent County, Maryland, on 6 March 1710.6 He made a will in Fisher's Island, Accomac County, Virginia, on 7 April 1751. In James Wessells's will, his wife Sophia and his son James were named by James to handle his estate.7,8 He died before 25 June 1754.8,7 His estate was probated on 25 June 1754 in Accomac County, Virginia.7,8
