     Abraham Opdengraff was born in 1490.¹ It is believed that Abraham, his wife and at least one son joined a clandastine Protestant community at Zwammerdam, Duchy of Cleves, which was adjacent to Kleve, from which community they fled in 1561 because the Spanish authorities were approaching.¹ He fled to Antwerp where he was in hiding for a time; he then made his way to Dusseldorf, where his wife and children were.¹ He died shortly thereafter circa 1563 in Dusseldorf, Germany.¹
